"My friends come up to visit and they ask how far in advance I need to book to get them a round on the golf course. I just laugh and tell them there's no need to. They can't believe it!"
Born and educated in Melbourne, Alan is 37 years old and married with two children, aged two years and five months. Alan and his wife really wanted to experience Provincial Victoria with its friendly people, wide open spaces, clean air and sunshine. So, the Tyson family found a small town close to where they were going to work - Dookie, population 251. After having lived in the bustle of Melbourne, Brisbane and England, Alan says the change to Provincial Victoria was welcome and has proved to be very rewarding.
"The lifestyle is so much more relaxed and I have experienced things I would never of thought of in Melbourne, such as the Country Fire Authority, the Fairley Foundation Leadership program and the Goulburn Valley Community Fund."
"The job opportunities are tremendous. I manage infrastructure projects up to $17 million and the career opportunities for my wife have expanded threefold."
"Since settling here, we have built a new home in Tatura and find there is a fantastic sense of community in the town. Living is easier and more convenient, now I don't have to drive half an hour just to go to the hardware store, I can walk there with the kids if I want to."
