"The biggest thing for me in Greater Shepparton I suppose is the sense of security. You know, I can't even imagine what it would be like to have to put my daughter on a train or tram to travel to school."
Dean and his wife Tracey moved to Provincial Victoria from Melbourne seven years ago. Dean was working with a friend in Melbourne who owned a business in Shepparton. Dean's work brought him to Greater Shepparton a few times a week and when a business opportunity arose that Dean thought had potential, he and Tracey moved to Shepparton.
"I established Deano's Flowers and was selling fresh flowers to the general public, it was an opportunity to do something different and I was confident that the market existed for such a business."
"Tracey and I were aged 23 and 24 when we moved here, and having no kids and knowing that the career opportunities existed, we were happy to make the change."
"We love it up here. Since we had our daughter life has taken us down a different path, and now I am working as a Store Manager for SPC Ardmona Factory Sales."
"Things in Provincial Victoria are easier. There's not the problems with commuting, or the issues of security, and the hustle and bustle of daily life still exists but it comes at a more manageable pace."
"A number of our friends visit and they are envious of how much more relaxed we are. For some of them work is so hectic and then they have to get up at 5.30 in the morning just to get there!"
"One thing is for sure. I would do it again."
