Risk Management Policy Documents

A review of the Council’s risk management policy and strategy by the Council’s Risk Management Officer has identified a number of improvements which can be made to it.

In accordance with the Council’s intent that this policy remain a living document, it has been reviewed to incorporate a number of recommendations made by Council’s public liability and industrial special risk insurers and changes to the Australian risk management standard AS/NZS 4360, which was rewritten and released during 2004.

At the same time, the opportunity was taken to revise the supporting Strategy, to increase the links between the two and also to the Council Plan. 

The revised Policy and Strategy directly address the following recommendations contained in the Organisational Risk Management section of the Civic Mutual Plus Public Liability Audit Report 2004: 

• That the policy and strategy be subject to regular review.
• That detailed authorities, responsibilities, available resources and objectives should be included.
• That the policy be regularly reinforced to existing staff.
• That the policy and strategy should be clearly linked to each other.
• That the application of the policy throughout the organisation should be monitored and reported upon.
