Sustainability
The Greater Shepparton City Council joined the Victorian Local Sustainability Accord in March 2007.
Sustainability Accord
Joining the Accord commits Council to developing and implementing a Local Environmental Sustainability Priority Statement in conjunction with the Department of Sustainability and Environment. This will help identify regional approaches to local sustainability priorities and issues.

Victorian Local Sustainability Network
The Victorian Local Sustainability Network recognises and enhances Victorian Local government’s role as a key community leader in achieving local sustainability.
The network aims to:
• develop a partnership of Victorian municipal councils and associated groups committed to developing local sustainability approaches in Victoria;
• create a forum to debate and learn about local sustainability approaches, issues and barriers;
• develop a learning network to share and explore different models of local sustainability; and
• provide a forum for advice and key messages to local government bodies and state agencies.
