International Council for Local Environment Initiatives (ICLEI) - Water Campaign
The Greater Shepparton City Council is a signatory to the ICLEI Water Campaign.
The Water Campaign is comprised of 5 milestones, each of which addresses water consumption and water quality for both council and the community.
The five milestones include assessment of the current state of water consumed by the council, setting goals for future water conservation, adopting a local action plan to achieve these goals, implementing and measuring the local action plan, and monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the implemented actions.
In 2009 Council adopted the Local Water Action Plan, meeting milestone 3 of the campaign and setting actions to meet a target of a 15% reduction in water use by 2010, based on 2004 / 2005 water use.
