Water Quality
Council, through a Stormwater Protection Officer, monitors the water quality of our urban lakes and wetlands.
Stormwater Education Officer
Greater Shepparton City Council, along with Moira and Campaspe Shires employ a stormwater education officer through the Goulburn Murrary Landcare Network. The officer has the role of implementing the Stormwater Management Plan and management of stormwater issues in the municipality.
Tests are conducted monthly for the parameters of pH, turbidity, temperature, dissolved oxygen, salinity and phosphorus, with E.coli tested in some waterways. Locations tested are Cussen Park and Lake Bartlett in Tatura, and Lake Kialla, Lowanna Waters, Lake Amaroo and Victoria Park Lake in Shepparton.
Blue-Green Algae
In addition to these tests, Greater Shepparton City Council also tests for the presence of Blue-Green Algae in our waterways.
