Councillor Cherie Crawford lives in Mooroopna and has been involved in local government for many years.

A former hairdresser with a love and passion for horse racing and breeding, as well as tourism, she has had a variety of life experiences. Initially Cherie served as a Councillor for the Shire of Rodney. She was the first and only woman Shire President of the Shire of Rodney. When local government was restructured, she was appointed by the Government as a Commissioner to the Shire of Moira where she served a three year term - retiring in 1997 when Elected Councillors were returned. Cherie nominated and was elected as a Councillor for the City of Greater Shepparton in 2008.
Her involvement within the community has been wide and varied and some of the positions that she has held include:
- President of the Mooroopna Football Club.
- Secretary and Treasurer of the Goulburn Valley Racehorse Trainers Association.
- President of the Victorian Local Government Women's Association - and a Member on the National Board.
- Chair of the Shepparton Community Corrections Committee.
- President McLennon Kiwanis Club.
Cr Crawford holds a Bachelor of Arts in Community Development and an Associate Diploma in Social Sciences.She has also completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course and is a Member of the Association.
