Kerbside Collection

Kerbside Collection

Greater Shepparton City Council is committed to the State Government's Towards Zero Waste targets for garbage reduction to landfill and as such offers residents a three bin kerbside collection service. This incorporates a weekly garbage and alternating fortnightly recycling and green organics collections.

What type of bins are available?

There is a range of bin sizes available to cater for different family sizes and individual needs.

DOMESTIC GARBAGE BIN

Your Domestic Garbage bin is the bin with the red lid and black body.  Greater Shepparton City Council encourages residents to choose the smallest bin size applicable to their needs (larger bin sizes incur greater fees). Available in 80 litre, 120 litre and 240 litre sizes.

RECYCLING BIN

Your recycling bin is the bin with the yellow lid and blue body. Available in 120 litre and 240 litre sizes.

GREEN ORGANICS BIN

Your green organics bin is the bin with the lime green lid and a dark green body. Available in 120 litre and 240 litre sizes.

Please contact Greater Shepparton City Council on (03) 5832 9700 if you would like to alter your bin size.  Please note that fees apply to upsize your garbage bin or to cancel any non-compulsory kerbside services.

When are my bins collected?

Domestic garbage bins are collected weekly, while your recycling and green organics bins are collected on alternate fortnights, the same day as your garbage bin.

To find out when bins are collected in your street, type your street name below.

How do I place my bin out for collection?

Your garbage, recycling and green organics bins will be collected by single operator vehicles fitted with a side operating mechanical arm.  The mechanical arm picks up the bin and empties the contents of the bin into the truck.  The driver operates the mechanical arm from inside the truck and cannot leave the cabin to correct the bin placement.  This type of collection system has been chosen to minimise the Occupational, Health and Safety risks to the operator and also to minimise costs to residents.

What if by bin is lost or stolen?

Lost and stolen bins must be reported to Council. You will be required to complete a statutory declaration to enable Council to supply a replacement bin - this will be at no charge to the customer. If your bin is damaged it will be repaired or replaced free of charge.
