Kerbside Garbage Collection
Your kerbside garbage bin is the bin with a red lid and black body and is collected weekly.
Residents have the option of three garbage bin sizes - 80 litre, 120 litre and 240 litre. Greater Shepparton City Council encourages residents to choose the smallest bin size applicable to their needs (larger bin sizes incur greater fees).
What material can I place in my garbage bin?
This service is for the collection of residual waste from around the home that can not be reused, recycled or composted, which includes;
- General household waste
- Plastic bags
- Nappies
- Broken drinking glasses or broken window glass
What material can't I place in my garbage bin?
- Hot ashes or liquids
- Chemicals
- Large heavy objects
- Car batteries
- Recyclable material (glass bottles and jars, paper, aluminium cans etc.)
- Compostable material (lawn clippings, vegetable scraps, weeds, leaves etc.)
What happens to the garbage after its been collected?
All of Shepparton's household garbage is taken to Cosgrove landfill, with no further processing to separate out any recyclable material, so Do the right thing and use the right bin!
If your bin exceeds 80 kilograms in weight it will NOT be collected. Please remove material prior to the next collection.
