Public Place Bins

Public Place Bins

Greater Shepparton City Council offers Public Place bins which allow residents to dispose of materials in public places.

Public Place Bins

Public place bins are located all around Greater Shepparton in parks, gardens and commonly used public areas. There are two types of bins; Waste (including Doggie bag bins) and Recycling . These bins are to be used in the same way as your bins at home, with the red top bin being for waste and the yellow topped one for recycling.

Public Place Waste bins

Public Place waste is for residents use for the disposal of rubbish when out in public places. Some waste bins also have dog waste disposal bag dispensers installed for cleaning up after your dog. Full bags can also go into any public place waste bin. Don't put recyclables into an ordinary waste bin if there is a recycle bin nearby!

What materials can I place in Public Place Waste bins?

What materials can't I place in Public Place Waste bins?

Public place waste bins are for use by the public only. Businesses must not use public place waste bins for the disposal of commercial or shopkeeper waste.

What happens to the garbage after it is collected?

All of Shepparton's garbage is taken to Cosgrove landfill, with no further processing to sort out any recyclable materials, so Do the right thing and use the right bin!

Public Place Recycling bins

Public Place recycling has been introduced to give residents the opportunity to recycle while they are out in public places, with the aim being to decrease the amount of recyclable material going into landfill each year. Public place recycling bins are the ones with the yellow top. You will always find a public place recycling bin next to a waste bin. If you're not sure if your waste is recyclable, put it in the waste bin - if in doubt leave it out!
