Murchison Transfer Station
The Murchison Transfer Station (resource recovery centre) is situated on the same site as the old Murchison landfill and accepts domestic waste and recycables, scrap metal and green organics.
Domestic waste accepted with the provision to recycle many items not applicable to the kerbside recycling system. Large commercial loads may be directed to Cosgrove.

Recyclables accepted free of charge (domestic quantities only):
- Empty oil containers (up to 20L plastic containers)
- Glass bottles and jars
- Paper and cardboard
- Silage Wrap (Must be bailed, no loose wrap)
- DrumMuster (By Appointment)
Recyclables which are charged for:
- Commercial quantities of cardboard -$6 a metre
- Garden Organics ($16 per cubic metre, but an equivalent volume of mulch can be taken free of charge)
- Hard plastics (Excluding PVC)
- Heavy and light steel
- Whitegoods (Fridges should be degassed and certified prior to disposal)
Mulch can be purchased for $6.00 per cubic metre
WEEE - E-Waste recycling
Greater Shepparton City Council is now able to offer residents and businesses a Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling service.
WEEE or e-waste includes all home entertainment components, including TVs and DVD players, computer equipment, including monitors and printers, office electronics and most items that can be plugged in and switched on.
White goods are not included in this waste category.
