Australia Day celebrations

Communities throughout Greater Shepparton will celebrate Australia Day with a number of functions being held on Saturday 26 January.

Ceremonies, activities and entertainment will take place in Shepparton, Mooroopna, Tatura, Arcadia, Toolamba, Dookie and Murchison.

Celebrations around the region will feature flag raising ceremonies, guest speakers and ambassadors, entertainment and the presentation of Australia Day Awards.

Dookie will start the celebrations in the CWA Gardens, with a free BBQ breakfast at 8.00am.

Murchison will also commence celebrations with a barbeque breakfast at 8.15am in the swimming pool grounds.

A free breakfast will kick off events in Arcadia at the Community Hall at 8.30am.

In Shepparton, a short march from the Victoria Hotel to the Queens Gardens at 9.30am will mark the commencement of events.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Eric Bott will be conducting a citizenship ceremony as part of the Shepparton celebrations.

Tatura and district celebrations will begin at 10.00am at the Italian Social Club Rooms and will conclude with a free community lunch.

Mooroopna's festivities will commence at 10.30am with a flag raising ceremony to open the celebrations.

Toolamba's events start at 11.00am and will finish with a barbeque lunch and fire brigade presentation.

The recipients of the Greater Shepparton Citizen of the Year and Greater Shepparton Junior Citizen of the Year will be selected from all award recipients.
