Greater Shepparton City Council is holding election information sessions for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse residents and Aboriginal community members.
Greater Shepparton City Council CEO Gavin Cator said Council supports greater numbers of CALD and Aboriginal community members standing for local Council.
"Increasing the diversity of Councillors brings diversity in decision making, can ensure better representation and better outcomes for local communities," Mr Cator said.
"The sessions will allow community members to get a better understanding of what it means to be a councillor, the workloads involved in being a councillor, as well as how to prepare an election campaign.
"Attendees will hear from current Councillors talking about their experiences, both in deciding to run for council and once they have been elected to council."
