Ratepayers, who chose to pay their 2009/2010 rates in full are reminded that the final date to pay your rates is Monday 15 February 2010.
Greater Shepparton City Council's General Manager Corporate Services Dwight Graham said the annual rate notices were mailed out in September last year."In an effort to ensure that the accounts are paid by the due date, the Council mailed out reminder notices to ratepayers whose accounts are still outstanding last month," Mr Graham said.
"Full rate payments received after Monday 15 February will be considered late and interest will be charged on the full amount due.
Anyone having trouble paying the full amount by the due date should contact the Council immediately to discuss alternative payment arrangements.
"Farmers eligible for the Exceptional Circumstances (EC) Municipal Rate Subsidy should ensure that they take advantage of the concession on their current rates as it will provide some relief in these difficult times," Mr Graham said.
To claim the concession, ratepayers will need to complete an application form and provide copies of Centrelink documents relating to their EC payments.
Once eligibility has been confirmed, up to 30 per cent of the total 2009/2010 rates and charges will be deducted.
The Council offers an extensive range of payment options for rates and charges including online via the Council's website at www.greatershepparton.com.au, by BPAY, at any Commonwealth Bank branch, by mail, in person, by POST billpay at any Australia Post agency, by telephone or by direct debits. All payment options are fully outlined on the reverse of the rate notice."
