Work to upgrade the surface of the traffic island near Dainton’s Bridge is due to start this week.
The traffic island is also the base for flagpoles flying banners which welcome visitors and promote events happening across Greater Shepparton City Council.
Council Team Leader Parks Mark Lambourn said work to improve the aesthetic appeal of the island was due to start on Tuesday (March 22).
“It’s a high-profile spot and an entrance to the City centre,” Mr Lambourn said.
“It’s currently quite unsightly, so we’re replacing the loose gravel and existing concrete with concrete in the Council’s colours (green and blue).
“This will greatly improve the area’s amenity.”
Mr Lambourn said traffic would be reduced to one lane on either side of the island during the works, which are expected to take about a week to complete.
