Feedback wanted on Draft Youth Strategy

News article released on Friday 22 June 2012

Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking feedback from the community on its draft Youth Strategy and Action Plan 2012 - 2015.

The draft strategy is the first of its kind for Greater Shepparton and will build on the work that has been previously undertaken and will strengthen partnerships between Council, young people and the youth sector.

Greater Shepparton Mayor Michael Polan said Council recognised the significant contribution young people make to our community.

"Significant consultation has been carried out with young people and the youth sector from across Greater Shepparton, with various forums and meetings held to gather ideas on the role of Council supporting young people and the youth sector." Cr Polan said.

"The suggestions raised have been pivotal in informing the key directions of the strategy."

"We have developed this strategy and are now asking people to give us their feedback. We will be seeking feedback in a number of ways and I strongly encourage young people, their families, the youth sector and the wider community to have their say on the draft strategy."

The Draft Youth Strategy and Action Plan is available on Council's website and at Council's Welsford Street Office.

Feedback on the strategy will be received until 5pm on Monday 23 July. Feedback can be made online in the community consultation section on Council's website or in person at Council's Welsford Street Office.
