Community Development
The Community Development Department program provides a range of services within the community.
Delivery of multicultural settlement programs
• Support newly arrived skilled migrant families with settlement
into the Goulburn Valley region.
• A local "Welcome Resource kit" is available to newly arrived
migrants.
• Orientation to Goulburn Valley region trips and social
events.
• An opportunity for newly arrived migrants to practice their
English skills at "Cuppa and Chat" sessions held at the local
library.
Support for volunteers in the community
• Developing further connections within the volunteer
network.
• Support of agencies and staff who have volunteers.
Community advisory role
• Advisory role from the Greater Shepparton City Council for
community groups planning events and programs.
• Involvement in events such as the Women's Suffrage Event, Women
Matter in Local Democracy, Reducing Aggressive behaviours, Midnight
Basketball and Men's Shed.
Small towns support
• Support small towns in their initiatives and future
development through community based projects.
• Develop or support of community action plans.
