The Talking My Language Program is funded through the Victorian Government's Sustainability Fund under the Victorian Local Sustainability Accord and is a partnership between the municipalities of Darebin, Yarra, Maribyrnong and Greater Shepparton.
The project aimed to fill a gap in the availability of information about environmental issues in languages other than English.
Undertaken during 2011, each Council engaged with a different culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community and prepared culturally relevant and useful energy-saving advice materials in that community's language.
Greater Shepparton worked with our local Afghani community and produced a short film in Hazaragi, with English subtitles. The film featured members of the community who participated in the consultation process.
DVDs have been distributed to Afghani community members, in particularly through a launch event held at Gotafe on 27 November 2011.
Please find a copy of the film below, as well as resources developed by the other Council's involved in the project. If you'd like a hard copy of these resources please contact Council.
