Greater Shepparton City Council, including the LEAD project were nominated for two state awards recently
In late September 2011 it was announced that the Greater Shepparton LEAD Social Marketing Campaign - See Beyond Race, had been selected as a finalist in the 2011 VicHealth Awards, in the Community Development category.
Our nomination was based not only on the success of the campaign, but the local partnerships that were created.
The award ceremony was held on 1 December 2011. We congratulate Cricket Victoria on their well deserved win.
We will continue to work with our local service providers to improve the conditions within our community for Aboriginal, refugee and migrant communities.
Also in September, it was announced that Greater Shepparton City Council had been chosen as a finalist in the VAEAI Wurreker Awards 2011, in the organisation category.
These awards recognise and celebrate the achievements made by individuals, organisations and training providers who are working to create positive, tangible outcomes for Aboriginal individuals and communities.
Greater Shepparton City Council was nominated for their commitment in recognising and supporting Aboriginal communities through their involvement in the LEAD project, the achievements of Council's Aboriginal Partnerships Officer, work experience program with Academy of Sport Health and Education (ASHE) and review of our recruitment and selection guidelines.
Three staff members attended the awards ceremony on the 22 September, where Hume City Council was announced the winner of this category.
We congratulate Hume on their well deserved win, and will continue to work in partnership with our Aboriginal communities, maintaining a harmonious community, inclusive of all.
