Long Day Care Centres provide child care on a full time, part time, or casual basis for children aged 0-6 years of age.
Our services are committed to providing your child with the best possible start in life. We are actively participating in the new commonwealth of Australia's quality framework and embracing the principles and outcomes of Belonging, Being and Becoming.
Using the Early Years Learning Framework educators will observe your child's learning so they can build on it and plan the next steps. They will do this by listening, watching and talking to your child. They will keep in touch with you regularly to discuss your child's progress. They may use photos or keep a folder of your child's work to show what your child is learning, how they are developing and what particular learning interests them.
By working together parents and educators can enhance a child's learning and wellbeing. As the most important person in your child's life you can make a difference by talking regularly with your child's Early Childhood Educator and asking about their learning. Information you provide allows Educators to link your child's experiences at home with the time they spend together in the early childhood setting.
We are committed to assisting each child to be the best they can be. We accept that children are already capable learners and support them to further develop in the framework learning outcomes:
Our services operate with qualified, experienced enthusiastic professional Early Childhood Educators who plan and implement programs and experiences to meet the individual needs of every child in their care. We believe that working in partnerships with families will provide the best outcome for the children accessing our services. All of our services comply with state and commonwealth Government Regulations and we are committed to continually striving to provide the highest possible standard of care.
Children are cared for in groups of similar age and developmental levels:
The centres provide a warm, friendly environment in which children feel happy and secure. The Early Childhood Educators in the children's room are dedicated and passionate about their role and will discuss with each family their individual needs and how to meet them. Families commencing care at any one of our services have the opportunity to participate in tailored orientation visits to familiarise themselves with the service. During this time families have the opportunity to stay with their child in the care environment and observe our staff interactions with children, the routines and participate in the program.
Whilst in care children are provided with a nutritious menu that incorporates heathy balanced diet with an active lifestyle taking into account allergies and cultural requirements. The children within our centres are provided with morning and afternoon tea; our Arthur Dickmann Childcare Centre and Frank R Pullar Childcare Centre offer a two course meal for lunch. Our cooks are trained and skilled in providing a safe and healthy eating environment as well as ensuring the meals are presented in such a way as to encourage healthy choices and healthy appetites.
Council also offers a cloth nappy service at no extra charge at Frank R Pullar Childcare Centre and Arthur Dickmann Childcare Centre.
All Long Day Care services are Sun Smart services. Between September and April the children do not go outdoors between 11.00am and 3.00pm to avoid the hottest part of the day and all children are asked to provide a wide brimmed hat for outdoor play. Educators at the service role model the wearing of appropriate hats and encourage the children to play in the shade wherever possible. Sunscreen is applied regularly and is supplied by the service.
Council's Long Day Care services are all registered with the National Childcare Accreditation Council (NCAC) and are committed to providing a high quality standard of care for all children. All our Long Day Care services currently have a rating of High Quality from the NCAC. For further information regarding accreditation please visit the National Childcare Accreditation Council website.
Fees for families using Long Day Care are charged daily. These fees include snacks /meals, cloth nappies and a developmentally age appropriate and stimulating program based on current best practice. For further information about current fees please contact Aged and Children's Services on (03) 5832 9783.
