Integrated Practice is a training program developed by the Greater Shepparton Best Start Project. An integrated approach for early years practitioners.
A significant achievement of Best Start has been the development of the 'Integrated Practice' professional development program for staff who work in the early childhood and community services sectors.
This training has been specifically designed to promote the family centred practice approach and to create an opportunity for staff to come together to build professional networks, to learn from one another, and to encourage a more integrated approach to providing services to families. A key reference point throughout the training is the best interests (of the child) case practice model.
An action research approach has been adopted in developing this training resource, with a local workgroup ensuring that the product is locally relevant, sustainable and of value for a range of staff from newly graduated workers to senior manangers. A key strength is that the training is delivered through a partnership model by senior, highly skilled local practitioners from Berry Street Victoria and FamilyCare. Greater Shepparton City Council takes responsibility for administration, workgroup coordination and evaluation.
