Greater Shepparton offers cycling enthusiasts a variety of paths and routes to ride. Whether you are seeking a leisurely ride for the family, a scenic bush ride or the ultimate off-road experience, Greater Shepparton has it all.
Greater Shepparton City Council has produced the Cycle in Greater Shepparton booklet, the ultimate guide to cycling in the region. Pedal into a world of cycling with tips and information on safety, extensive details on the shared pathway network, parks and gardens, mountain bike trails, annual events, cycling club details and more!Greater Shepparton provides a cycle training route that takes in some of Greater Shepparton's best terrain. Being relatively flat, Greater Shepparton allows riders of all fitness levels the opportunity to explore the region extensively.
In December 2006 Scott Peoples was tragically killed while on a training ride near Mansfield in regional Victoria. An exceptionally gifted sportsperson and delightful young man, Scott was on the brink of breaking into the cutthroat world of professional cycling in Europe.
Scott's family along with a number of Shepparton cyclists and other interested people have come together to honor Scott's memory through the Scott Peoples Foundation and Memorial Race. The race is an annual event and takes place in December each year.
The Shepparton Fruit Loop ride is a 50km, 100km and 200km cycle ride around Shepparton. The event is held in September every year. It is a challenging event, but not a race. No places are recorded and no trophies are presented. The 50km & 100 km rides are over flat terrain while the 200 km event includes a 14 km climb through the Strathbogie Ranges.
BUG Shepparton are a keen bunch of cyclists from central Victoria who meet together for the enjoyment, exercise and adventure of regular, friendly organised recreational bicycle rides.
