The Tallygaroopna Recreation Reserve Committee of Management in conjunction with the Tallygaroopna Football/Netball Club approached Council with a proposal to improve facilities at the Tallygaroopna Recreation Reserve.
The Tallygaroopna Recreation Reserve Committee of Management in conjunction with the Tallygaroopna Football/Netball Club approached Council with a proposal to improve facilities at the Tallygaroopna Recreation Reserve.
Many of the existing facilities at the reserve were in poor condition and no longer met the needs and expectations of the community.
In partnership with these groups, the Council engaged Melvin Recreation Consultants to develop a concept plan for the reserve. Following a lengthy consultation process and considerable fine tuning, a final plan and report was adopted by the Council in 2005. The concept plan outlined a range of new development, including a new multi purpose pavilion, construction of two new tennis/netball courts, modification of the road network and installation of a new waste treatment system.
As a result of a successful application for funding ($50,000) from the State Government's Country Football Netball Grants Program and a contribution of $230,000 from Council, works are expected to commence on new change room facilities in February 2006. Total cost of the project is estimated at $325,000 plus in kind donations and contributions from the Club, Committee, and community.
The new change room facilities will be located to the east of the existing social pavilion in vacant land between the cricket nets and the social rooms.
The new change facility was completed in August 2006 and enhances the reserve.
