Organised by the Shepparton Art Gallery the “Sidney Myer Fund International Ceramics Award, in association with La Trobe University” is held every second year.
The 2008 Sidney Myer Fund International Ceramic Award in association with La Trobe University is the largest exhibition of international ceramics since the award's inception in 1997. Judged by internationally-renowned artist, Ah Xian, 52 shortlisted artworks encompass the first floor of the gallery. Shepparton Art Gallery hosted an international symposium on contemporary ceramics alongside the Award. Ah Xian and a number of prominent Australian and overseas ceramic artistspresented at the symposium, providing a platform for cross-cultural learning and exchange.
