SheppARTon Festival 2006

SheppARTon Festival 2006

Proudly supported by Shepparton Show Me, the Festival is in its 10th year, boasting a program bigger then ever. Incorporating new events as well as the ever popular regular events have helped to define this unique regional Festival.

Some 30 events were staged over the 11 days in March, in numerous venues and covering a very broad range of artistic endeavour including film, dance, food, sculpture, painting, performance, music, photography, poetry and more.  Significantly over half of the events were free to attend which was undoubtedly a factor in the very strong audience numbers throughout this year’s Festival.

The Twilight Festival was a highlight of the program with over 8,000 people attending from the community and also many visitors to Shepparton. Princess Park became a fantastic festival space, transformed into five stages of entertainment, and an abundance of food available. The Community Choir performance thrilled the crowd, combining with a visual projection piece and concluding with a fantastic fireworks display.

Planning has already commenced for next year’s festival, with a working title of “Common Ground”. The SheppARTon Festival recently won the bid to work with Regional Arts Victoria, in developing an international partnership with overseas artists to create a central feature for the 2007 Festival, which will no doubt be a major drawcard for the Festival.
